Top Honda Intelligent Safety Features
When you buy a Honda from Serra Honda O’Fallon, you can rest assured that it will be well-appointed with exceptional safety technologies. The Honda Sensing® safety suite is updated yearly so that Honda drivers and passengers can be well-protected on the road. These features are designed to help drivers identify potential issues on the road that they may have otherwise missed. What are some of the active features of the Honda Sensing® safety suite?
Blind-Spot Information System
When you turn your Honda’s blinker on, the blind-spot information system will detect the presence of a vehicle in your blind spot. If a vehicle is detected, this system will set off an audible sound and a blinking light. These will continue until you turn off the turning signal or the blind spot is clear.1
Cross-Traffic Monitor
This technology warns you if a vehicle is approaching you from either side. It works in combination with a multi-angle camera. If cross-traffic is detected, you will be notified by a beeping sound and via the central display screen.2
Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)
Your Honda can automatically slow down or stop to prevent a collision. Special sensors and camera monitoring are used to detect a potential front collision. The brakes will immediately be engaged if a possible collision is detected.3
Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
The road departure mitigation system is designed to help you stay between the lines. It monitors the vehicle’s positioning in a lane. If it detects that you are veering outside of the lane without using your turn signal indicator, this system will automatically correct your steering.4
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Essential cruise control allows your vehicle to maintain its speed, but the driver must adjust when approaching a vehicle. With adaptive cruise control, the speed is adjusted automatically as you move up to another vehicle. This also helps you to maintain a safe driving distance.5
These are just a few of the available intelligent safety features found on Honda vehicles. Do you have specific questions about these features or want to see them in action? You are invited to visit our showroom at Serra Honda O’Fallon soon to explore our extensive inventory and learn more about the many advanced features in our latest models.
1. Blind Spot Information System: The system is not a substitute for your own visual assessment before changing lanes. Blind Spot Information System may not detect all objects behind or to the side of a vehicle and may not detect a given object; system accuracy will vary based on weather, size of object, and speed. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
2. Cross Traffic Monitor: Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up, as the rearview camera and cross traffic monitor may not provide complete information about conditions at the rear of your vehicle. Monitor cannot detect all objects behind or to the side of a vehicle and may not detect a given object; system accuracy will vary based on weather, size of object, and speed. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
3. Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™): CMBS cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
4. Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM): Road Departure Mitigation only alerts the driver when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position to slow the vehicle’s departure from a detected lane. RDM may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
5. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. ACC should not be used in heavy traffic, poor weather or on winding roads. ACC only includes a limited braking function; driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
